Windows 7 Support Ends

What To Do

Use an operating system newer than Windows 7, such as Windows 8.1 or later.

Microsoft no longer supports Windows 7, which is more than 10 years old.

Essent cannot assure that its software products will remain compatible with the outdated operating system.

Attention Essent Software Product Customers – Mainstream support for all editions of Microsoft Windows 7 ended January 14, 2020.

What does this mean to you?

Microsoft has announced that mainstream support of Windows 7 for all Service Packs ended January 14, 2020. Windows 7 is more than ten years old.

Microsoft will no longer hotfix bugs, even critical bugs that impact your business. If you still use Windows 7 for an Essent software product, you may not be able to adequately resolve any support or compatibility issues that may arise because you are using outdated database management software. It is our policy to enhance our software, add-on products, and technical support services for the latest releases so we can provide the best possible service.

If you have an existing Essent software installation on Windows 7 and if you have a current Support Plan with Essent it will continue to be honored, but Essent may not be able to adequately resolve any support or compatibility issues that may arise. Essent requires all software installations from this point forward to be Windows 8.1 or higher.

Please note, some functionality, like remote access and advanced networking requires newer versions of Windows and is only supported by Essent using these newer versions.

Should you need assistance, support will be based on a pay-per-call basis charged at our current hourly rate for technical support.

What you can do about it?

Do not continue to rely on unsupported versions. Upgrading now will give you continued access to support, product updates, and valuable add-on products and services which may be important to your business. It will also bring you new enhancements and features that have been added since your version was released. Customers are encouraged to upgrade to Windows 8.1 or higher.
