What This Privacy Policy Covers

This policy describes how Essent Corporation treats personal information that it collects and receives, including information related to past use of Essent products and services. Personal information is information that identifies or can reasonably be linked to an individual, such as a name, postal address, email address, telephone number, account identifier, or similar information.

This policy does not describe the independent practices of companies Essent does not own or control, or persons Essent does not employ or manage. Information processed by third parties may also be subject to their own privacy notices and contractual terms.

Information Collection and Use

General

Essent may collect personal information when you register, use Essent products or services, visit Essent pages or certain partner pages, enter a promotion, communicate with Essent, or otherwise interact with Essent. Essent may combine information it holds with information received from business partners or other lawful sources.

Depending on the service or relationship, Essent may request information such as name, email address, postal address, telephone number, occupation, industry, interests, account details, and transaction information. Certain financial or regulated services may require additional information where permitted by law and appropriate to the service.

IP Address, Cookies, Visits, and Telemetry

Essent may automatically receive and record information from services, browsers, devices, and software, including IP address, cookie information, requested pages, software utilization, performance telemetry, diagnostic information, and session data. Essent may use this information to operate sessions, monitor performance, diagnose issues, fulfill requests, improve services, recognize traffic and usage patterns, communicate with users, conduct research, and produce reports.

Browsers may permit web servers to recognize a browser on later visits through cookies. Essent uses cookies and similar technologies to manage sessions, monitor performance, personalize return visits, and save user preferences. Some services may require cookies to operate correctly.

Artificial Intelligence Services

Information Processed by AI Features

Depending on the AI Feature and customer configuration, information processed may include prompts, questions, instructions, uploaded files, Customer Data, content, metadata, communications, documents, images, workflow data, connected-system information, and other information submitted or made available through the Services.

AI Features may generate responses, recommendations, summaries, analyses, classifications, communications, automations, workflows, actions, content, or similar Outputs based on such information.

Third-Party AI Providers

Essent may use one or more third-party AI providers, model providers, cloud-service providers, infrastructure providers, processors, subprocessors, or related service providers to provide AI Features. Information submitted to AI Features may be disclosed to and processed by those providers to the extent necessary to provide, secure, support, monitor, or maintain the requested functionality.

Processing practices may vary by provider, model, deployment type, service configuration, hosting arrangement, customer configuration, and applicable legal requirements. Additional provider-related contractual terms are addressed in the Essent AI Services Addendum.

AI Model Training and Improvement

Unless an applicable customer affirmatively authorizes participation, Essent does not use Customer Data, Inputs, Outputs, uploaded files, prompts, content, communications, or similar customer information to train, fine-tune, improve, or develop shared or generally available AI models.

If Essent offers a training, evaluation, research, improvement, or similar program involving customer information, participation will require affirmative customer authorization and will be governed by the applicable program terms.

Connected Systems and Integrations

AI Features may access information stored in connected applications, services, databases, document repositories, websites, APIs, integrations, and other systems when authorized by the customer or an authorized user. Information available to AI Features depends on permissions established by the customer, authorized user, connected system, integration, and applicable service configuration.

Sensitive Information and AI Features

Users must not submit payment-card information, payment-card numbers, card-verification values, PIN data, magnetic-stripe data, or other PCI-regulated information to AI Features. Additional categories of highly sensitive or regulated information should not be submitted unless Essent expressly authorizes the specific processing.

Contractual restrictions concerning sensitive information are set forth in the Essent AI Services Addendum and applicable service documentation.

AI Data Retention

Retention periods for information processed through AI Features may vary according to the applicable service, provider configuration, processing purpose, customer configuration, legal requirements, security obligations, operational requirements, and applicable agreements. Additional retention information may be described in service-specific documentation, data-processing documentation, or customer agreements.

Information Sharing and Disclosure

Essent does not rent or sell personal information. Essent may share personal information to provide requested products or services, with permission, or in circumstances such as the following:

• with service providers and trusted partners acting for or with Essent under appropriate obligations;
• to comply with subpoenas, court orders, legal process, or lawful governmental requests;
• to establish or exercise legal rights or defend legal claims;
• to investigate, prevent, or address illegal activity, suspected fraud, security incidents, physical-safety threats, or violations of applicable terms;
• in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or transfer of assets; or
• as otherwise permitted or required by law.

Where Essent publishes customer names in connection with trading networks, web presences, directories, or customer references, it does so in accordance with applicable agreements, permissions, and law.

Marketing and Notices

Essent may provide information about features, services, and offers. Where applicable, recipients may opt out of promotional communications using provided mechanisms or by submitting an opt-out request. Administrative, transactional, security, and service communications may still be sent where necessary.

Safeguarding Personal Information

Essent uses administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to safeguard personal information and help prevent unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or improper disclosure. No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and Essent cannot guarantee absolute security.
