Essent Announces ePromoStandards Alliance Membership

EASTON, Pa., December 30, 2004 — Essent announces its partnership with ePromoStandards Alliance (ePSA), the independent, non-profit organization founded to develop and implement electronic commerce standards for the promotional products industry. As an associate member, Essent will play an integral role in helping the organization define policies that streamline e-commerce, improve communication, and increase innovation industry-wide.

Founded in 2000, ePSA was established by industry firms to develop standards that normalize the content, transmission, and handling of business documents transmitted via the web. The organization's main goal is to develop open standards that make Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) readily available to distributors and suppliers.

“Industries thrive through standardization, and businesses that standardize grow as a result,” says Essent President Eric Alessi. “ ePSA and its progressive members are setting the stage by providing a uniform platform that automates complex business communications. Essent is excited to join in the effort of developing standards and technology that make business better for everyone in the promotional products industry."

To date, ePSA has developed and implemented five standard electronic documents, including an order status form, advanced shipment notification, purchase order, product catalog, and invoice. It is currently 73 members strong — among it's ranks are some of the largest, most influential distributors, suppliers, and service providers in the industry.
