PromoStandards PPC Product Pricing and Configuration

PromoStandards Product Pricing and Configuration (PPC) is an electronic document standard for communicating pricing and configuration data between trading partners. PPC works in conjunction with PromoStandards Product Data to define the information that a supplier or manufacturer requires from a buyer to create, process, and fulfill orders.

Product Pricing & Configuration is the most sophisticated of the PromoStandards integration endpoints.

While the Product Data integration might say that a shirt can be embroidered, for example, the PPC integration would say which locations are valid for the embroidery decoration; define stitch counts; provide the dimensions for the each logo location; and allow the distributor customer to choose from the options defined as valid by the supplier.

The PPC integration takes the information from the Product Data integration and applies it to create Well-Formed™ orders, which are orders that are ready for immediate processing because they’re complete, accurate, and only include valid choices.

The PPC integration helps ensure that the distributor provides the supplier the complete, valid information that the supplier requires to move forward.

In the most sophisticated integrations, such as the ‘Holy Grail’ integration, the PPC integration can ensure orders that are so accurate that they can be processed by computers without a person having to look at them. Since the orders include all of the required information, and the information is accurate and valid, orders can literally be ready for the production floor moments after they arrive.
